"G'day" from Sydney
"G'day" from Sydney.
We had a very good sleep after our long travels from Oahu, and were ready to start exploring Sydney.
Of course the first highlights were Sydney's famous Opera House and Harbour Bridge.
The Harbour Bridge first opened in 1932, when it was the world's tallest steel arch bridge.
It is known locally at "The Coathanger".
The Opera House opened in 1973 and is known for its striking sail design.
The weather is nice, temps in the low 80's and a nice breeze, with a very brief drizzle (while we were eating at an outdoor cafe so we were not affected or inconvenienced).
We walked to the Rocks - a section of town "where modern Sydney began." Traditionally the home of the Indigenous Cadigal people,it is the place where the first European settlers stepped ashore on January 26, 1788. We will miss "Australia Day" on 1/26...as we will be at sea - heading for Melbourne.
I have finally figured out what time it is back home....I just have to add 7 hours to the current time, and SUBTRACT one day!!!
I can’t imagine the time difference. I think I will just use an “app” and not have to use my math abilities. I was wondering what your weather was. Thanks for answering that question. It is 7:42 am tomorrow in Sydney ( or 3:42 pm on Monday here) as post this comment in a Florida. Keep sharing.
ReplyDeleteYou figured out the time difference - yes, it is 7:42 a.m. (or very close to that time) on Tuesday in Sydney right now.
DeleteIf keeping track of the time difference is the worst thing we experience, I think our trip will be a wonderful experience. Glad to be sharing this adventure!
So glad to read you are there and all is well! So much to see! Thanks for sharing!
