Back home in Champaign

Image
Friday, March 13, 2020      We arrived back home in Champaign, IL flying from Maui through Dallas/Ft. Worth, TX with no problems.  And, look what "greeted" us on our return - SNOW!! It will take a few days for us to get back to normal.....after unpacking, doing laundry, sorting mail, paying bills, grocery shopping, etc.  We are NOT complaining.....how could we, since we just enjoyed a 2-month vacation of a lifetime!      We hope everyone is healthy and stays that way - with this Coronavirus situation.      Take care, and thanks for sharing in our adventure to Australia/New Zealand/and Maui!

Leaving Maui

Image
Wednesday, March 11, 2020      Our final full-day on Maui after a month in "Paradise"....our home-away-from-home at the Ka'anapoli Beach Hotel in Room 447.      What a wonderful stay - so relaxing with beautiful sunsets and a few rainbows and terrific dinners each evening.  It will be hard to return home, but we are ready after being gone 2 months.            This was truly a "trip of a lifetime", and a memorable way to start a year of celebration for Janet's 70th year!

Winter on Maui

Wednesday, 2/26/2020      NO this is not Maui.....a friend sent us this picture of her backyard in Champaign, Illinois - snowing and blowing with temperatures around freezing and wind chills in the teens. Glad we are on Maui enjoying their winter....sunny, breezy, and temps in the 80's.        Weather was so beautiful and relaxing that Tom took full advantage by napping while listening to audio books.      Another great dinner with another gorgeous sunset.....one never gets tired of this natural beauty.   A wonderful way to end each day in "Paradise".

Tuesday, February 18 - Monday, 2/24/2020      Cousins Bill & Quinn (Scholle) travel from Texas (via Colorado) to spend a week in "Paradise" with us on Maui.      Bill and Quinn have a time-share at The Westin....just a short distance from where we are staying at the Ka'anapoli Beach Hotel.      After a long flight to Maui, they are ready for dinner and cocktails....so we are off to Duke's Beach House, a short walk on The Westin's grounds.  Great food and even better sunset - Welcome to Maui!          After a good night sleep, they are ready to explore Maui with us.        One of the best views of why Maui is referred to as "The Valley Isle" is the Iao Valley & Iao Needle.      "Iao Valley State Park in central Maui is home to the Iao Needle, one of Maui's most recognizable landmarks standing at 1,200 feet...
